Sure – the economy’s tanked, your market stinks, and money’s tight. I get it. But pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get on down South, ya’ll, for two of the best events you’ll attend all year.
If you’re like me, you’re carefully planning where and when to spend not only your money but also your time. These two events will transform your business – and they’re more than worth the money you’ll spend to get there. And these ain’t your momma’s real estate conferences – from events held in bars, karaoke nights, and live Twitter feeds teaching you almost as much as the speakers themselves, you’ll come away with more information than you bargained for — and that’s a good thing!
March 25-26 – RETechSouth – Atlanta, Ga.
The RETechSouth Conference and Expo is in its third year and is the largest real estate technology conference in the Southeast. Join the thousands who have traveled to Atlanta “to learn the latest technology tips, engage in discussions about how to enhance their business, talk with vendors about how to improve their products, network with the smartest people in the industry, and of course party together!”
Firsthand, I can tell you – it’s amazing. As technology continues to change our industry, the top minds in the real estate and technology worlds come together for what has to be the coolest real estate event of the year. It’s the brainchild of Brad Nix (@bnix), broker of Atlanta’s Maxsell Real Estate, who can teach you more over drinks than you could learn at a “regular” real estate conference.
This year, RETechSouth has also partnered with the Georgia Association of REALTORS®, who are combining their annual Broker/Manager Conference with RETechSouth and helping to turn the conference into a two-day event. Affordable? Totally: $149 for an All-Star Pass or $199 for a VIP Pass (Georgia Association of REALTORS® members, save 10 percent by ordering now). Visit the website for more info.

April 28 – REBarCamp Nashville – Nashville, TN
If you’ve never been to a BarCamp before, pack your bags and head on down to the land of country music — the home of the Grand Ol’ Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame — and the host and organizer of REBarCamp Nashville, Brian Copeland (@NashvilleBrian). And best of all – it’s totally FREE.
Barcamps are one of the hottest tickets in the real estate education world today. And don’t let the event date fool you — be prepared to come early and stay late, for “Beer with Bloggers” on Tuesday night, April 27, and the newly-added and filling-up-quickly WordCamp on Thursday, April 29 (WordCamp requires a separate registration, but for $50? C’mon, folks!). Brian Copeland has assembled an amazing array of sponsors and guests — as if his own reputation as a leader and teacher shouldn’t be enough to get you there. And did I mention…it’s FREE?

So I know where I’ll be March 25-26 and April 27-29 — c’mon down to the land of sweet tea, country music and a little bit of twang. We’ll be expectin’ ya!

Maura, what a pleasant surprise to wake up to on a Friday morning. I really never thought about the economics of these types of travels. So many times, the better conferences are in California, New York or travel to destinations out of the south. To have two amazing, wallet-friendly options within a four hour drive of almost anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line, is pretty smart to point out. THANKS!
Nice post Maura! I will be there and see you at REBCNASH (and Wordcamp) in April! I look forward to meeting you!
Great info! I hope I am able to make them. One thing though-it’s spelled y’all 🙂
