Now that you have a system to post and stay active on social media. How do we scale and grow this? How do we get to the point where this becomes a systematic business activity? Picture this scenario: you’re in bed at 1am (and scrolling anyway) and commenting on pages your target audience may follow, which are likely the same pages you’re already following. As you comment, people read what you’re writing and are intrigued enough to say, “who’s this now?” Then, they click on your page and follow you. BAM opportunity!

So now what? How do you keep them engaged so you can scale your own social media reach?

Make Your Page Appealing

You want your profile to look engaging so that they have a reason to not only follow you, but stay engaged. If it’s boring and just a bunch of “For Sale” posts, or all over the place and they have no idea what the page is about, you may lose them. Take the time to look at your profile and analyze it. Think about how you could make it the most attractive to your intended audience. Then look at an industry leader’s profile take notice of the care in presentation.

Maximize Engagement

At the end of the day, social media is about building community, which means you have to engage. Share the posts of others so they want to share yours. Join groups and be sure to add value daily (just answer one question or add your opinion on a trending topic daily) Share and post educational or motivational content so people feel like there’s something to gain from following you. As you identify high performing posts, set up paid ad campaigns on them and create ads based around your high performing posts. Run your ads for 30 days minimum, ideally much longer. If it works why stop it right?

Keep Up the Consistency

If daily recording doesn’t work for you, consider scheduling. Scheduled content days also works wonders for me. Remember the advice fro the last post in this series: dress up, show up, and load up on content. Take photos and videos. Don’t worry about getting the perfect shot while you’re there. Just take it all. You’ll be surprised at how it all comes together when you’re editing in Canva. (And if you don’t have a Canva account, it might be time to look into one. The website makes it super easy for you to create ads/designs.)

Start by creating a content calendar, where you can plan everything out. That way, you have a blueprint to follow, which makes it easier to figure out what kind of photos, videos and graphics you need. You can schedule posts using a posting scheduler like Hootsuite, Buffer or Sprout Social. These hubs allow you to log into all social media accounts across platforms, upload all your content for the week or month—whatever you want—and and schedule the posts accordingly.

These scheduling hubs do cost money, so it’s crucial that you factor that cost into your plan, and really think about whether or not you need them yet. Do it yourself with sweat equity before you hire.

Keep the Pace Reasonable and Achievable

Marketing can be a full-time business. Content creation can be a full-time business. Managing a social media page can be a full-time business. You really must juggle all of this alongside your real estate business, at least at first. At some point though, you might need to outsource so you can continue to grow your following without it cutting into your selling.

Until then though, give it your best effort. We don’t all start out with massive marketing budgets, let alone any savings at all, so this is the hard work it takes to get your name out there until you can pay someone to do it for you. You will get tired. You will get frustrated. You will experienced creative blocks. But it’s important to remember that it’s about consistency, so set a reasonable pace.

You won’t go viral in a day, which is fine. That’s not why we’re here. Did anyone learn anything about your business today? If you can answer yes to that every day, then you’re on the right track. Here’s to doing the hard stuff even when we don’t feel like it.
